Capacity is calculated by total volume. When using container, choose a capacity greater than what you need to prevent overfilling and spills.

For optimal performance we recommend that you clean the fountain once a week and disassemble/clean the pump once a month

Pump Cleaning
1) Unplug, disassemble and rinse impeller under water.
2) Clear any hair or debris inside pump away.
3) Place impeller back in and spin a few time to set alignment.
4) Reassemble.
This needs to be done 1-3 times a month depending on the number of animals using the fountain. Filter cartridges should be changed every 2 - 4 weeks.
