PetEdge Groomer's Showcase: OctoberFest Edition

Fall is in full swing, and we have a festival of furry friends to share with you this week.

Julie writes: "This is Precious, an American Cocker Spaniel. She gets the full breed clip and is owned by an avid camper, so she is on a five-week schedule. She is just so darn precious!

I used Wahl Switchblade Clippers with a Wahl #10 Competition Blade for her head, down her back, and for her sanitary area and pads. Precious' feathers and skirt are hand-scissored with only about a quarter inch taken off. Her mommy just loves the round full legs.

Precious gets a bath with Tropiclean Papaya Plus Shampoo & The Stuff Finishing Spray. I groom Precious in her own home & during the summer she gets groomed right at her camp site!"

Cheryl writes: "Snickers was horribly matted over his entire body. He is a two-year-old shih tzu and a total sweetheart.

I used my Oster A5 2-speed clipper with a #15 blade to get under the mats on his neck, then was able to work slowly to peel the pelt off in one piece. I finished the coat with a #7F Andis blade to smooth it out, and scissored his ears and tail.
 
The challenge is not to cut the skin, since mats are so tight—especially in the armpits and the inside of the hind legs near the belly.

He was so relieved and felt great!"

Ashley writes: I have been grooming for 12 years. I own and manage my own pet grooming and boarding shop in Fowler Ohio. I specialize in any breed of dog, cat, or exotic pets.

Before:

"In all the years I have been grooming, I must say this Standard Poodle was my biggest challenge. It had not been groomed in over nine months. The owner wanted it's hair to grow, but never maintained it at home. It was very matted and dirty!

After:
