PetEdge Groomer's Showcase: Groomers from Afar Edition

Welcome to another edition of the PetEdge Groomer Showcase, where we celebrate the work of groomers like you! This week we are celebrating the work of two groomers who live in far-off locales, and the challenges they face working off the beaten path.

Congratulations to Cheryl from Alaska and Lexie from Australia who are this week’s grooming superstars. Thanks for sending in your photos and keep up the great work!

Cheryl writes: "Bubba is a miniature poodle who lives in an Alaskan fishing town (the boats from "The Deadliest Catch" dock here), but would rather be prancing around in Paris with a fancier name like Pierre or Francois! :)

His owners have him groomed just 2-3 times a year, which is why his transformation is so incredible. His is a custom style—I do a Town and Country style with hind legs in a Lamb style. It suits him!

I have been grooming for over 25 years and currently have my shop on Kodiak Island in Alaska, artistically grooming dogs and cats. Being remote has many challenges, mostly getting supplies shipped here. There are newer restrictions, and most of the products I use are not allowed to be shipped. I have to find other sources on the internet to get things like colognes and even nail trimmers! Very frustrating!

There are a few villages around the island where clients live and have to fly their pets into town to be groomed. There are many different breeds here and Kodiak people are wonderful and love their pets!”

Lexie’s Dog and Cat Grooming, Perth, Australia

Fergus Before and After

Lexie writes: “Hi, I’m Lexie from Lexie's Dog and Cat Grooming in Perth, Australia. This Westie lives on a 5-acre property in Perth. He had to be bathed 5 times with Groomer’s Edge shampoo, and a degreaser, and Groomer’s Goop. I thought it would never happen. Fortunately this dog is bathed every 3 weeks, so the dirt did not stain his coat. Even after all this work, she still didn't come back. Oh well.

“Being an Australian groomer has its challenges. The biggest one would have to be the heat. Some days its 40 degrees Celsius (104°F) outside and we still have to groom out there. At least the weather helps dry the dogs super fast!”
